Major Duties
- As a Senior Systems Engineer - Nuclear you are the driving technical force behind problem solving efforts. You will work with the customer, ATS project manager, and ATS design, assembly, and software teams to design the solutions that meet the customer's requirements.
Specific Responsibilities
- Subject Matter Expertise
- Learn the customer process and become the local expert in it, to support the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and commissioning of machines/tools/systems.
- Take engineering responsibility for component and system level analysis, calculations, or studies to verify compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare/review technical project documents such as Failure Modes and Effects Analyses and Safety Risk Assessments.
- Requirements Definition and Verification
- Responsible for ensuring design requirements are appropriately documented.
- Prepare/review vendor technical specifications and interface with vendors of process critical third-party equipment.
- Responsible for requirements verification by evaluating engineering drawings and specifications for conformance to design inputs/requirements.
- Project Technical Leadership
- Responsible for planning, execution, and monitoring of systems design and development.
- Lead and participate in design reviews with customers, vendors and internal design groups.
- Manage project technical risk throughout the project lifecycle.
Additional Responsibilities
- Responsible for communicating time estimates and resource requirements on tasks to the Department Manager and the Project Manager.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, accepted engineering practices, and ATS standards.
- Assist in the supervision and mentoring of junior staff within the department.
- Perform other specific duties or projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- A post-secondary degree in relevant engineering fields.
- A Licensed Professional Engineer designation in Ontario (P.Eng.) is preferred.
Experience
- Ten years of experience in engineering design, development and qualification of custom machinery, systems or equipment.
- Five years of experience in nuclear tooling and equipment development and testing.
- Good written and oral communication skills and ability to lead or work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.
