The Licensed Practical Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.
Responsibilities:
1. Providing nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of an LPN.
2. Ensuring the supply, control, and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, ensuring protocols are followed on all assigned shifts.
3.
Creating a comfortable and safe environment that provides opportunities for privacy, dignity, autonomy, independence, and individuality.
4. Optimizing each resident’s potential to achieve or maintain maximum functional ability.
5. Seeking direction from the RN when resident needs exceed experience or scope of practice.
6. Exercising sound nursing judgment by reporting any change in resident’s status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse.
7. Fostering an atmosphere conducive to the provision of optimal care through collaboration with other team members.
8. Liaising with medical team members and supporting effective clinical care for all residents.
9. Continually assessing his/her own nursing practice and learning needs.
10. Participating in in-service programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
11. Documenting priorities, target dates, and strategies on the individualized care plan.
12. Working with the resident, family members, and interprofessional team to systematically collect data for the nursing history.
13.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Must haves:
1. Diploma in Practical Nursing.
2. Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
3. Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS.
4. Current First Aid with CPR.
5. Successful completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants).
6. Successful completion of the Criminal Records Check (British Columbia applicants).

Leveling rate of pay: $32.84 - $41.35 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates starting rate.
