Director, Organizational Development
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E; and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.
With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples,
MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social, and economic best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Director, Organizational Development to support our growing team.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days at any MMC office location and 2 days working remotely.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer and working in partnership with the HR team and colleagues across the organization, the Director, Organizational Development is responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions to build and enhance MMC’s performance and talent capabilities to support our customer centric organization. With the support of the OD Coordinator, the Director will support employees across the organization at every level,
provide thought leadership and apply leading-edge learning practices focusing on employee learning and professional development, leadership development, talent management, performance management, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB), culture, and employee engagement.
key responsibilities
Employee Learning & Development
- Create and manage the design and delivery of MMC’s employee learning and development programs including onboarding, legislated training, employee development, and a full suite of management, leadership and emerging talent programs
- With the OD Coordinator, consult with senior leaders to understand and support the unique learning and development requirements for their teams providing learning solutions that improve individual and organizational performance
- Continuously evaluate and enhance learning delivery approaches to optimize the learner experience
Talent Management
- Lead the redesign and implementation of a fulsome talent management practice starting with the development of competency models, optimizing MMC’s talent identification and development processes and tools to enhance MMC’s talent pipeline
- In collaboration with the Human Resources team, ensure our top talent have robust development plans in place to accelerate their growth
Performance Management
- Lead MMC’s performance management process and tools (goal setting, check-ins, calibrations, year-end assessments)
including reviewing current state and recommending changes as needed to enable a best-in-class approach as we harmonize our practices
- Support the HR team on performance management implementation including assisting with communication of the process and preparing for annual reviews and ongoing feedback
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the employee experience and advance diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging by improving existing initiatives, innovating new practices and implementing new policies
- As the HR lead on the MMC’s DEIB committee, provide expertise and guidance on employee DEIB strategies and action items
Culture and Engagement
- As MMC continues to grow through acquisitions, lead the organizational strategy, and its implementation, as it relates to culture,
engagement and a respectful workplace
- Design and execute MMC’s employee feedback strategy, including employee surveys to focus on actions to drive engagement and ensure cultural alignment
Other Responsibilities
- Lead the development, communication and implementation of HR and Organization processes and policies related to learning & development, talent management, performance management, DEIB, engagement & wellbeing
- Manage relevant HR budgets, including employee learning and development, engagement & wellbeing
- Coach leaders on talent, employee relations and succession objectives as well as coaching conversations
- Negotiate and manage relationships with external vendors
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in the OD field,
Human Resources or Business; CHRL/CPHR an asset
- 10+ years of progressive experience in HR with at least three years in an OD leadership role
- Experience in Hospital/Healthcare industry preferred
- Outstanding presentation, facilitation, and teaching skills with a proven ability to connect with all levels across the organization, and with external partners and stakeholders
- Highly developed understanding of methodologies and approaches for: leadership development, organizational change, individual and team performance, learning and development, employee engagement, organization design, coaching, diversity, and conflict management
- Proven track record of designing and implementing successful talent development programs
- Foundational project planning and management skills
travel
Ability to travel between Mohawk Medbuy office locations when necessary
