As the Sports Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and delivering high quality recreational sports programs and leagues for children and youth. Sports instructors will always maintain a safe environment.
Location: 410 Rebecca Street, Oakville, Ontario
Hours of work: Part- Time, variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 4:00pm – 8:00pm, and Saturday: 9:30am – 2:30pm

Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements engaging program plans to teach and deliver sports and recreational activities for children and youth across all programs, while recognizing and accommodating different participant learning styles.
• Actively engages with children, youth, and families, fostering positive interactions and effective communication with parents throughout each program.
• Complies with YMCA Child Protection Policies by conducting regular head counts, following sign-in/sign-out procedures, and ensuring that staff-to-child ratios are consistently met. Maintains constant supervision of all children in their care, ensures thorough documentation and safe transfer of care, and safeguards the environment by verifying that doors are locked and secured during and after program use.
• Sets up and takes down equipment's of recreational programs. Ensures safe use, condition and storage of equipment.
• Communicates any issues or information that could impact the quality and safety of program delivery to the manager on duty or your direct supervisor in an effective and timely manner.
• Performs other related duties to fulfill commitment to quality programs for all child and youth members.
Requirements:
• Related post-secondary education or relevant equivalent working experience in same field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with coaching sports, recreation, play based activities to children and youth.
• The candidate must possess the ability to teach and engage participants at various skill levels,
demonstrating strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Knowledge and ability to teach basic skills and the rules of fair play for sports with a focus on basketball, soccer and volleyball.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service, interpersonal and communications skills.
• Certified Sports Coach in a relevant area (desired).
• Current CPR and First Aid.
• Current Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
