Job Description:
Reporting to the Finance Manager of the School of Business and Hospitality (SOBH),
the incumbent oversees the day-to-day financial operation within the SOBH. The incumbent is involved with the preparation and finalization of operational budgets, including enrolment projections for the School. The incumbent is also responsible for the preparation, maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of financial information related to special projects, contracts, and the Learning Enterprises (Restaurant International, Savoir Fare, Spa & Student Enterprises). The incumbent ensures that the appropriate financial controls and processes are consistent with college policies and is responsible for creating and monitoring purchase requisitions. This position is critical to ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, completeness, and reliability of financial information for decision-making by the Finance Manager, the Chairs, the Associate Chair, and the Dean of the SOBH.
This position provides analytical analysis in various activities. The incumbent will prepare financial and operational reports to ensure that the Finance Manager, the Chairs,
the Associate Chair, and the Dean can make informed decisions when considering potential business opportunities. The incumbent’s role is also a critical part of the College Financial Year-End and Budget Preparations and is the liaison with the department’s internal and external clients.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) year diploma/diploma or equivalent in Business, Finance or Accounting or another discipline if combined with pursuit of professional accounting designation;
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible business/budgetary administration experience, preferably at a post-secondary institution where accounting, computer/ERP systems, including advanced Excel skills,
administrative and interpersonal skills were utilized;
- Demonstrated skill in using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel at an advanced level;
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with College employees of all levels and outside clients;
- Demonstrated effective organization, time management, and planning skills;
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
