The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is an arm's-length
federal agency responsible for the shared stewardship of the lands and waters
that make up the Port of Vancouver, Canada's largest port. Our mandate, as

As the
Indigenous consultation coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating
and participating in the development and implementation of the Vancouver Fraser
Port Authority (port authority) Indigenous Consultation activities. This
includes providing coordination and support for Indigenous engagement and
consultation and assisting with other related activities as required.
What youdo:
- Followall applicable Indigenous consultation guidelines, policies and procedures asthey relate to the port authority, Transport Canada and/or other agencies asrequired in the preparation and maintenance of records of Indigenousconsultation.
- Plan,coordinate, participate and implement events, meetings and workshops for andrelating to Indigenous consultation, as required.
- Prepare,disseminate and coordinate submissions, correspondence, records, reports,tracking tables,





payment requests and information sharing with Indigenousgroups in relation to Indigenous consultation on projects, operations anddevelopments.
- Conductresearch into matters relating to Indigenous issues and opportunities thatemerge through meetings with Indigenous groups or on initiatives proposed bythe port authority.
- Providegeneral business communication support to the port authority and the departmentas assigned, including preparing status updates, briefing notes, communicationplans, presentations, meeting materials and other documents as required.
- Providesupport to project communication activities.
- Performresearch in support of department initiatives.






- Write,post and maintain Indigenous consultation and/or engagement records that mayinclude posting project-related Web and intranet materials, as required
- Maintainrelated Indigenous consultation and engagement tracking databases andspreadsheets; update and expand as necessary.
- Coordinateand participate in promotional or special events, or on project teams, asrequired.
What you bring:
- Youwill have completed a university degree in communications, Indigenous Studies,political or social science, or another acceptable discipline from a recognizededucational institution, along with a minimum of two years of experience incoordinating Indigenous engagement, research, and/or Indigenous consultationactivities.
- Youwill possess experience with general project communications and/or communityengagement would be considered an asset,





as would experience working withIndigenous communities whose traditional territories include the lowermainland. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
- Youwill be a self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills,including tact, diplomacy and the ability to liaise effectively and positivelywith both staff and outside contacts.
- Youwill have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be a teamplayer with a "customer service" focus.
- Youwill possess good organizational skills and flexibility to perform multipletasks are required

Working environment: Normal office
conditions with the requirement to work evenings occasionally to attend
community events/meetings. Occasional weekend work and travel to external
meetings around the Lower Mainland, and as far away as Agassiz and Vancouver
Island is also required
