Production supervisor SUMMARY

New Toronto Food Co. is a fresh fruit and vegetable processor and packer located in Toronto, Ontario. We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Supervisor to join our Operations Team. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership skills, particularly in the areas of: coaching, capability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and managing department KPIs. Together with the department leadership team, the Packaging Supervisor will assist with personal performance evaluation, team development and training; providing results-oriented leadership that drives continuous improvement consistent with the Operations Strategy.





They will also be expected to coordinate and assign all departmental activities, ensuring agreed upon goals and objectives are met. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of department safety procedures, equipment and systems operations, and will have the ability to apply knowledge and experience to meet and exceed job requirements. New Toronto Food Co. is a continuously growing company; this role would be intended to develop and advance into a senior or managerial position.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operation (50%):

- Provide leadership and line/machine management to the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers. Actively train and engage the team to take ownership regarding the task at hand.
- Accountable for accurately updating all active systems (e.g. Produce Pro, WMS). Review action items for completeness with effective follow up to closure, and review shift report to drive daily production meeting.
- Ensures line/machine safety, quality,





and all operational line performance measures, including: incidents, quality misses, breakdowns, OEE, DLE, and executing a schedule to achieve net attainment and MUV. Ensure changeovers and PMs are being coordinated and executed accordingly on their lines to achieve weekly net attainment. Drives improvements by actively collaborating with other departments.
- Lead Shift Handover: manages communication during shift handover, start-up, production meeting and team information.
- Create and implement training programs regarding all operational procedures.
- Responsible for start-up, process checks, instructions, equipment (including sanitization records), sampling, documentation, inspections, component & inventory adjustments,





labelling and system updates for every PO within the scope of supervision. Accurate and timely completion of PO documentation (repack batch closure).
- Responsible for line clearance including material, equipment, returns and reconciliation of components. Responsible for line readiness at start-up and material replenishments during production. (F&A; production).
- Drive and improve daily operational KPIs.
- Conduct standard leader walk through/audit of documentation, safety and GMP processes.
- Ensure safe and clean environment at their production lines/machines, which includes 5S methodology.
- Responsible for hours allocation and 100% PO & shift reconciliation to reflect actual activities.






- Plan employee schedules and review daily attendance; follow up with the employee related to attendance issue (late, absenteeism). Provide input to payroll.
- Monitor and drive initiatives to reduce spending in department supplies, including consumables, change parts, and other overhead costs.
- Driving/ensuring Repack batches are closed on a timely basis.
- Responsible to execute preparations for line trials, samples, and equipment cleaning validations.
- Responsible to arrange and coordinate with all production coordinators to ensure overtime is crewed by line priority.

2. Safety (5%):

- Support safety programs and initiatives; work with Maintenance team to implement corrective action identified.
- Participate in Equipment Risk Assessment; work with team to eliminate risk.
- Support new employee onboarding and document training.






- Ensure team is following all safety procedures, including but not limited to: equipment movement, guard removal, LOTO.
- Lead safety behaviour by example; conduct leader safety walks and initiate actions when required. Responsible to ensure all safety procedures are followed.

3. Quality (5%):

- Maintain GMP compliance, including all required documentation (following the 'Good documentation practice policy'), process verification, checklist review, and housekeeping review.
- Audit and support data integrity compliance on the lines/machines, ensuring hourly quality checks are being completed and take appropriate action when not in compliance. Ensure Zero Defect procedure compliance.
- Support investigation, closure of deviations, CAR's,





and change controls within requested deadlines.

4. Continuous Improvements (20%):

- Participate in CI initiatives – KAIZEN; 2BAD, LANDMINES.

5. Learning and Development (20%):

- Identify and assign trainers, set training plan in place, drive training plan to close gaps.
- Ensure timely completion of training for all employees (GMP/safety procedures, and SOP).

- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, results-oriented environment. Must be able to work with a sense of urgency to drive effective business results.
- Effective coaching and team building skills.
- Be able to identify and develop talent.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT) and PPro preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 2-3 years of experience as a Supervisor/Lead role in food manufacturing.
- Any post-secondary education would be considered an asset.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
