The Opportunity







Perform administration support to the Roads Division within the Department of Public Works during the winter snow clearing operations.

Accountabilities

• Interpret the CUPE 569 collective agreement as it relates to overtime, stand by, shift premium statutory holidays, rest days, call-in’s etc., for preparation of ineligible and eligible lists for overtime call ins.
• Contact employees for overtime.
• Create, prepare and process Exceptions Reports and submit to Public Works Administration using Microsoft Excel.
• Prepare daily employee absences reports for processing and ensure Leave Request forms from employees on shift are submitted to supervisor.
• Prepare a variety of reports, such as Snow Removal, Blow Back, Winter Events, and Vehicle Slip Inspection.
• Track and issue keys, vehicle fluids, route maps and other items to staff.
• Process information through our electronic system – ACR.
• File Management, including maintaining paper and electronic copies.

Qualifications

Education – High School Diploma, Diploma in: Office Administration or a related field.

Specific Skills/Certifications –
• Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking and time management skills with high attention to details. Must have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Exercises good judgment,





courtesy and addresses people in a tactful and diplomatic manner.

Relevant Experience –
• One year experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities along with proven experience in basic clerical functions, including Microsoft Word & Excel.

Working Conditions

Office Environment, Shift Work as per Public Works Winter Shift Schedule.

Hours of Work

Shift Work as per Public Works Winter Schedule - 40 hours per week

A-shift Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 am-6:00 pm
B-shift Saturday to Thursday - 10:00 pm-6:00 am
C-shift Sunday & Monday 9:00 am-7:00 pm, Thursday & Friday 9:00 pm-7:00 am
