Senior Cost Accountant

This is a short term contract for a manufacturing company based in Vaughan. We are looking for a highly competent Senior Cost Accountant with expertise in inventory and job costing. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for evaluating and scrutinizing inventory costs to ensure the fiscal viability of the business and help management make informed decisions.Responsibilities: Analyze inventory and report on its valuation, liabilities, and risks to the management.Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual production costs.Conduct regular ledger and period end reconciliations, ensuring timely completion.Assess the company's current inventory tracking system,





ensuring it is fully optimized and suggesting improvements to better track costs.Prepare timely and comprehensive reports about cost trends, inefficiencies, and budget variances.Assist the finance team in the formulation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax requirements by accurately estimating tax returns.Advise management on cost-saving strategies and potential areas of improvement.Collaborate with audit teams to ensure all is in accordance with the latest financial regulations.Participate in special financial projects that require cost analysis. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.At least 5 years of proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst,





or similar role.Solid experience in inventory accounting and job costing is essential.Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and legal regulations.Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and databases.Exceptional analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of cost accounting principles.Excellent numerical skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving attitude.Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
