Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Financial Planning & Analysis Office is looking for a Senior BI Performance Analyst to support development of the BI platform by conducting or participating in analytics projects to enhance understanding of business activity, deliver actionable insights into operational and financial areas, and provide reports that meet the needs of Finance, Senior Management, and Executives.
What will I be doing?
- Designs and develops reporting tools to support Finance’s ability to make informed business decisions.
- Develops reporting dashboards to highlight business activity and initiates proactive analysis to identify trends and data that support recommendations and innovations to improve financial results, improve financial processes, and drive operational effectiveness.
- Analyzes all available data sources (e.g., Business Intelligence (BI), other internal financial and non-financial data, external data, etc.) to identify opportunities for performance improvement, financial process improvements, and cost savings.
- Supports Finance with BI system self-serve capabilities and trains BI users.
- Participates in periodic reviews of BI systems and reports with Executive Leadership team.
- Liaises with the embedded finance teams to understand system design functionality and best interpret, design, and support reporting for all internal and external customers.
- Liaises with embedded finance teams to understand their needs for current and future reporting capabilities, understand and automate forecasting methods and provide improvements on current costing and forecasting processes.
- Defines and implements data reporting and analysis best practices (e.g., data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation).
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a diploma in a related discipline - OR - completion of an apprenticeship program with trade certification,
or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) years of related experience.
- Experience with using and generating reports from Business Intelligence (BI) systems.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time/series analysis, data mining, and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in using and developing BI systems, including report and dashboard development.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel and Power BI for both query and visualization (i.e., SQL, R, Python, PowerQuery, etc.)
- Experience with financial systems would be an asset (ex. Hyperion, Oracle or other).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build positive, productive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders.
