Georgian College is seeking part-time professors in the Architectural Technician / Technology programs. As faculty members at Georgian College, you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for teaching and share your rich industry experience by creating a supportive and effective learning environment which allows students to achieve their full academic potential.
Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening at the Barrie Campus. Duties include but are not limited to :
- Delivering a wide variety of courses in the Architectural Technician / Technology programs.
- Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluating student learning progress / academic achievement
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications :
- Successfully completed a recognized bachelor’s degree program in the field of architecture; post graduate degrees are assets
- Minimum five years of experience in design, execution, supervision, or consultancy in residential, commercial, institutional and / or industrial architectural projects
- Knowledge and experience with the Building Code Act for all Building Code in the design, construction, and inspection of buildings in the province of Ontario
- Knowledge and experience with the Canadian legal system and the specific documentation provided by the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) on which information specific to the architecture and constructions industry is built
- Experience in general contract aspects in construction
- Experience in other capacities with constructions engineering firms or municipal offices is an asset
- Knowledge and experience in design and development of commercial architectural projects
- Computer literacy in MS Office Suite
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset :
curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification is an asset
- Current membership or affiliation with relevant professional associations (i.e., Ontario Association of Architects) is an asset
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
