What you will be doing







The Communications Assistant role will cover a 12-month maternity leave to support the organization’s marketing, communications, and administrative needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative team member who is enthusiastic about helping Burnaby families.

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: 2101 Holdom Avenue, Burnaby

Wage Range: $22.78 to $24.87 per hour

Benefits: Eligibility for group benefits after probation

Reports to: Executive Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

- Creates content and supports the maintenance of all BFL communication platforms including company website, social media, and internal newsletters on an ongoing basis,





including website copy development and publishing.
- Support and update in coordination with the Executive Assistant all internal procedure manuals.
- Supports community event planning, logistics and staffing needs.
- Coordinate and assist in preparation of promotional material including flyers, social media posts, posters, and newsletters. This will include design using existing templates as well as creating new updated materials in Canva.
- Photography and video development and management
- Assist with other projects and administrative duties as needed.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations
- Detail oriented and results driven.
- Reliable and dedicated, with sound judgement,





and the ability to manage confidential information.
- Proactive and able to meet firm deadlines.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with website management (and design). Experience with SquareSpace would be an asset.
- Experience with graphic design. Proficient in the use of Canva.
- Strong administrative skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Requirements:

- No relevant criminal record to work with vulnerable populations, BFL will request to run a criminal record check upon hire.
- May be required to participate in work-related activities or community events outside regular work hours including occasional weekend and evenings.
