Job Summary: : This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below).The Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) is seeking a bilingual enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as Support to the Program Coordinator. This is an entry-level position that will provide essential support to the Program Coordinator in implementing various initiatives aimed at advancing Ottawa’s music industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for administrative tasks, assisting in coordinating events, workshops, meetings and mentorships as well as providing assistance in the planning and execution of various programs and initiatives such as the Capital Music Awards, City Sounds Live, Songs from the Shed, the Independent Music Business series, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Program Coordinators and Executive Director, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, drafting correspondence, and maintaining records and databases.
- Assisting in coordinating logistics for events, workshops, and other activities, including venue booking, equipment setup, registration, and communication with participants.
- Assist in the planning and execution of various programs and initiative, including research, coordination of resources and tracking progress.
- Help maintain and update OMIC’s website, social media platforms, and other communication channels,
including drafting and scheduling newsletter content alongside the Communications Coordinator.
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinators and other team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Provide general office support, including responding to emails and managing office supplies and inventory.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in English and French.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
or Google Drive and experience with website content management systems and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Passion and knowledge of the music industry and interest in Ottawa’s diverse and vibrant music scene.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required for events and activities.
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week
- A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada
In addition, candidates must meet, and have documentation for, at least one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Have an active Employment Insurance (EI) claim or
- Previously established an EI benefit period within the last five years or
- Paid employee payroll premiums (EI premiums – Box 18 on your T4) in at least three of the previous ten years (where earnings have been at least $2K in each of those years or
- Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous five year
NOTE 1: Those registered in full-time academic studies are not eligible to be considered.
NOTE 2: If you are eligible to receive Employment Insurance (EI) benefits you must apply for those benefits in advance of JCP participation.
