Reporting to the Manager,
Product Communications, this role will be responsible for supporting all areas of Product Communications to ensure we create and maintain a positive image and opinion of Mazda’s current, new, and upcoming products and technology in the media. They will support all elements of media communication regarding Mazda’s products through various methods including new product launch programs planning and execution, national press fleet scheduling and vehicle ordering, media website management, and day-to-day communication with automotive and lifestyle media across the country.
Essential Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)
NEW MODEL LAUNCH PLANNING
- Support new model launch plans for all products, including event planning, media content creation, messaging/presentation development, event execution.
- Monitor and analyse launch activities, execution activities, and performance.
- Liaise with Global and US PR teams to support planning for major and minor launch events.
- Communicate with media for attendance and book travel.
- Schedule and support media interviews.
MEDIA LOANER VEHICLE FLEET MANAGEMENT
- National press fleet vehicle ordering, logistics and maintenance.
- Media vehicle booking request scheduling and coordination.
- Journalist, influencer, and vendor relationship management.
- Vehicle information package development and distribution to media.
KEY MESSAGE DEVELOPMENT & DISTRIBUTION
- Support with planning, development, and distribution of all product press communications including:
- Press release development and media-facing communication.
- Distribution: release to media via the newswire, media subscribers.
- Manage and maintain media website.
- Manage media monitoring services and reporting key metrics.
ADMINISTRATION
- Track budget items for various PR launch programs, analysing variances between budget and actuals.
- Review all invoices against purchase orders/quotes.
- Upload invoices to Concur system for approval and payment.
- Database management.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required)
- Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, or journalism.
- 1-2 years of related work experience, preferably in a corporate or agency corporate communications/public relations role.
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and time management, with the ability to work independently, adapt, prioritize and multi-task.
- Proven communication and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge and/or passion for the automotive industry will be considered an asset, but not required.
- Ability to work with a diverse team and influence/drive change across functional areas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint).
- Ability to use graphic design software is an asset.
- Bilingual (French) is an asset.
