United Way of Calgary and Area

Calgary

Permanent, Full Time

At United Way of Calgary and Area, we believe that united, we make the biggest difference. We’re strongest when we come together to improve local lives and communities—and when we come together as a team, we passionately propel our mission forward. We’re currently looking for a Project Coordinator to join our dynamic Healthy Aging Alberta team.

Reporting to the Healthy Aging Alberta Manager, the Project Coordinator will support the execution of the strategic direction of the initiative with a special focus on evaluation process activities. This role will collaborate cross-departmentally within United Way,

and within interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral teams of external partners from community organizations and systems across the province, working together to advance this shared mandate. This role will support the coordination and operational activities that UWCA is accountable for within the Healthy Aging Alberta Initiative , a provincial initiative led by a Community Leadership Council (CLC) and backboned by United Way of Calgary and Area.

The Community Leadership Council (CLC) is a group of community-based senior serving (CBSS) sector leaders who have come together in a close partnership with the Alberta Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services around the mandate of improving health and social outcomes for older adults by transforming the way healthy aging is funded and empowered in the community. This would be accomplished by developing a provincially coordinated and unified sector of community-based organizations focused on healthy aging who are able to coalesce, collaborate, and integrate at a systems level with allied partners such as government, health, and housing.

The Project Coordinator works closely with the Manager, the Initiative staff team, and consultants supporting the development of this highly collaborative, community-led Initiative.

If you are passionate about your community, aspire to make an impact, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, then we’re looking for you!

What you will do

- Support administration and operations of the Healthy Aging Alberta Initiative, including managing staff and CLC collaborative processes such as regular Council meetings and communications, coordination of key stakeholder engagement activities, and document and information management.

- Support the generation of briefs and presentations about the Initiative or different components of the work in collaboration with the Manager and the Engagement and Communications Specialist for various internal and external audiences.
- Support the management of the budget, consulting contracts, funding grants, and initiative expenses payments and tracking, in collaboration with the Manager.
- Support the stewardship and tracking of funding agreements, including program and financial reporting in collaboration with the Healthy Aging Alberta staff team and UWCA finance team.
- Occasionally support execution of events (in person and virtual) such as training, stakeholder engagements, community forums, and large-scale conferences in collaboration with the Initiative staff team and community and systems partners.
- Occasionally support the posting and updating of information on the Healthy Aging CORE Alberta.

- Support the Initiative’s Developmental Evaluation by creating data collection mechanisms in collaboration with the evaluation team based on the Initiative strategy and reporting requirements.
- Manage ongoing qualitative and quantitative data collection on all Initiative components in collaboration with the Initiative staff team through training on data collection processes, continuous monitoring, and the generation of data analysis reports based on an established reporting schedule.
- Support capturing and continuous refinement of Initiative strategic plan, project management plan, roles and responsibilities and implementation plan in collaboration with the Manager.

What you will bring

Experience:

- 5 years of relevant experience in administration and evaluation of community development or systems change initiatives within the non-profit sector or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with data collection and analysis in the context of program evaluation.

Attributes:

- Strong coordination and project management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with a special emphasis on editing.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on continuous business process improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting professional relationships.
- Ability to work within a collaborative environment, obtain clarity on direction/perspectives, and act on them.
- Strong technical skills and comfort with learning new digital platforms, including advanced MS Office Suite skills and virtual conferencing platforms.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up phase while embracing change and iteration.
- Experience working with an equity lens to support diversity and inclusion is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of community-based initiatives, preferably in the senior’s sector in Alberta, is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of collective impact and collaborative leadership models is considered an asset.
