JOB STATEMENT:
The Business Intelligence (“B.I.”) Data Analyst will develop, implement, enhance and support our Business Intelligence platform. The B.I. Data Analyst will assist with the preparation of various deliverables leading to the development of solutions related to enterprise level management reporting, decision support, business intelligence and analytics. All of this is in support of initiatives focusing on information enablement, Business Intelligence solutions and business process improvement.
The B.I. Data Analyst will assist with the gathering and validation of reporting requirements with the goal of understanding business needs and translating them into a solution or process improvement.
This work may be in support of day-to-day operations or may be related to a project.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with business units, partners, and colleagues to ensure project and service requirements are achieved;
- Assisting with the resolution of operational service requests as per agreed service levels;
- Understanding expectations that were set with client and recognizing when issues/events may affect delivery;
- Assisting with the collection and verification of requirements, liaising between the business units/customers, technology teams and support teams;
- Assisting with the analysis of information needs and the delivery of the following artifacts, as needed: functional and non-functional requirements (business requirements document), report mockups, prototypes, descriptions and recommendations, proof of concepts;
- Assisting with the continuous improvement efforts of the B.I.
Solutions team and its business processes and make recommendations to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency;
- Assisting with the development of reports, dashboards, scorecards, analytical and automation tools to support corporate B.I. initiatives;
- Providing ad hoc reporting in response to daily corporate information needs while adhering to service level agreements;
- Providing a depth of commitment in response to dynamic priorities with sometimes unpredictable deadlines;
- Ensuring adherence to data integrity standards and governance; and
- Ensuring compliance to corporate standards, initiatives, policies and agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A university degree and/or college diploma in computer science, business, information management or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of business analyst/reporting analyst role in IT or a financial services firm; mutual fund, securities and insurance industry experience is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into requirements
- Proven data analysis, data verification and problem-solving skills
- Experience with SQL (2008+) Server and SQL building queries using multiple data sources using SQL Management Studio
- Experience utilizing Business Intelligence and Analytics Software (Qlik, Power BI, Tableau) to help visualize and act on data
- Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to monitor and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously and to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to conform to shifting priorities and demands while under pressure and effectively prioritize tasks
- Must be able to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Self-directed, resourceful, motivated and results oriented
- Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment, while ensuring attention to detail
