About the Opportunity
Health Care Social Workers provide a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families,
enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health. These interventions include: psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management.
Health Care Social Workers are actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation and collaboration on behalf of individuals/groups within the institution and community. The role is multifaceted and dynamic, requiring each Social Worker to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Master of Social Work Degree from an accredited university
- Current registration and membership in the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers and Canadian Association of Social Workers
- Two (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Social Worker required
- Strong counselling and communication skills
- Capacity to achieve a high degree of autonomous practice
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team context
- Knowledge of issues related to family violence, sexual abuse, addictions, grief and loss, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving and continuum of care
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
- Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
- Access to reliable transportation
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Long Assignment Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Approximately 12 months
Compensation and Benefits
$37.31 - $49.05 Hourly
