Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager,





the Senior Project Accountant will serve as a key member of Bird’s Industrial Finance Team. The position will be responsible for assisting in day-to-day financial management of the district and will work closely with project staff to ensure the successful financial delivery of the project portfolio. The primary focus will be dedicated to industrial projects. Developing effective relationships with operational counterparts and fostering a culture of partnership will be a key measure of success.

This position is based in either Mississauga, ON or Sudbury, ON

What you will be doing:

· Provide project accounting leadership and support for major projects based in Ontario.

· Support district finance team with regular processes and procedures.







· Work closely with project team in delivering relevant financial information and submittals.

· Oversee administrative team and provide mentorship and guidance.

· Review contracts and participate in project start-up meetings to ensure contract compliance and effective system set-up.

· Ensure accuracy and integrity of Profit & Loss reporting.

· Prepare quarterly financial statements for Bird Industrial’s JV entities and partners.

· Review cost and billing reports to ensure proper management of cost codes, contract items, charge out rates, and markups.

· Prepare and submit journal entries to assist with quarter-end close processes.

· Compile labour, equipment, material, subtrade (LEMS) and submit monthly progress billings to client.







· AR – post deposits to projects; compile monthly AR reports for our reporting group.

· AP – create a weekly payable report for payments to vendors and subcontractors.

· Assist in the preparation of a quarterly trust reconciliation.

· Coordinate billing and payment schedules, ensuring timeliness while working towards maximizing cash flow.

· Manage the project financials, ensuring project portfolio is thoroughly evaluated and financial issues are actioned and escalated.

· Review project recoveries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

· Support project closeout processes.

· Respond to requests received from internal and external auditors.

· Help champion a strong partnership and act as liaison between the district finance team and its operational counterparts.







· Support Senior Finance Manager and Senior Director of Finance on continuous improvement initiative

What We Are Looking For:

· Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance or relevant work experience

· CPA or other relevant professional designation considered an asset

· 4+ of relevant project accounting experience

· Previous supervisory experience is an asset

· In depth understanding of project accounting, project management, and project delivery formats

Advanced Excel proficiency, ability to work with complex formulae, XLOOKUP/INDEXMATCH functions, and arrays

· Experience in Viewpoint Vista or SAP is an asset

· Infrastructure and public company experience

· Demonstrates a willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives
