Successful Candidates may be eligible for a $15,000 lump sum payment upon signing, subject to a two (3) year Return of Service agreement. Eligibility criteria are determined by Incentive Policy.
About the Opportunity
The Physiotherapist reports to the Rehabilitation Services Manager and assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function.
The Physiotherapist is educated and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers in regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. This position provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.
As a member of a clinical team, the Physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solves problems and shares responsibilities.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Graduate from a recognized Community College Physiotherapist Assistant program that meets the standard set by Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada or “an internationally trained Physiotherapist who has completed the credentialing process may be considered”
- BLS-C
- Ability to communicate well with patients, their families and health care team members
- Must be cooperative and possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with physiotherapy and health care team members
- Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing staffing and caseload levels
- Previous experience working with physically and/or cognitively impaired people is an asset
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics, anatomy, basic computer skills and training in electro-physical agents and other physiotherapy specific interventions
- Knowledge of common diseases and disabilities as well as the treatments,
precautions and contraindications for them
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Permanent, Full Time, 75 Hours Bi-weekly
- Physiotherapists work on weekends in many areas of the hospital
Compensation and Benefits
$33.97 - $44.39 Hourly
