Job description
Learning Minds is an after-school tutoring institute with centers in Mississauga and Milton. We provide individualized tutoring in small groups of 2 to 3 students through trained and qualified tutors. We are currently seeking qualified & experienced tutors with a passion for teaching students ranging from grades 5 through 12 in our Mississauga and Milton Centers. Being an after-school tutoring institute,
our hours of operation are 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Mondays through Fridays.
Demographic Focus:
Our demographic focus is on students from Grades 5 through Grades 12. We provide tutoring services to gifted students, as well as to students who need extra help in improving their grades in school and reaching their full potential.
Subjects Covered:
We provide tutoring in all subjects – Maths, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and French
Our Teaching Methodology:
We help our students reach their full potential by:
· Supplementing the instructions they receive in class
· Guiding them toward study practices and aides that can help them excel in their academics
· Providing academic instruction to students on an individual or small-group basis for proactive or remedial purposes
· Reviewing class material with students through discussions, discussing solutions to problems, reviewing & assigning worksheets and assigning supplementary work for home study
· Providing feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
Our Tutors and Facilitators (Education & Experience):
We expect our potential tutors to:
· Have a bachelor’s degree (preferred)
· Have Ontario Teacher’s Certification (preferred, but not mandatory)
· Have Two or more years of teaching/tutoring experience teaching children from grades 5 to 12 (tutors who have a passion for teaching, but do not have the requisite experience can also apply)
· Have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
· Have access to Reliable transportation.
· Have the skill to be able to develop a positive rapport with students.
· Possess excellent communication skills
· Demonstrate established proficiency and skill in subject matter.
Job Type and Compensation:
Part Time (evenings 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM), Mondays to Fridays

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
